Our underage captains were honoured at the Tralee District Board Captains' awards night last Friday evening at Manor West Hotel. Kerry footballers Paul Galvin and Daniel Bohane were in attendance on the night to present the award to the captains. Abbeydorney's captains were  U11 - Orla Young, U12 - Ciara Maunsell, U13 - Saidhbhe Horgan, U15 - Rosie Young.

Tralee District Board Captains' Awards Night

The Kerry Ladies Football Board held their Social at Ballyroe Heights Hotel, last Friday night, commencing with a mulled wine reception at 7.30pm. Guests on the night were Radio Kerry's Weeshie Fogarty and Footballer of the Year, Marc O'Se. Items of memorabilia from this year's All-Ireland winning Kerry team were auctioned on the night. Entertainment was provided by Misty, followed by Alan's Discoroad show.

N.K. Junior League Final - The N.K. Junior League Final due to be played last Sunday morning against Castleisland Desmonds as been postponed until January 2008 due to a backlog of fixtures.

AGM : The Kerry Football Board will hold their Annual General Meeting on Thursday night, 13th December at Farranfore commencing at 8pm.

Social : Abbeydorney Ladies GAA in association with Abbeydorney GAA will hold their annual social on Saturday, 12th January at Ballyroe Heights Hotel. Music will once again be provided by Celebrations followed by a Disco with Big Jim. Tickets are €30.

Our U12 team took part in the Tralee District Board U12 Blitz competition last Sunday morning for the first year. 4 teams participated in the competition. In our opening game, against Austin Stacks, we got off to a slow start and this game ended in a 5 pt defeat. The second game, against Kerins O'Rahillys was a more closely contested affair, however it we were on the losing side again, with a 3 pt loss. In the final game, Na Gaeil provided the opposition and we were hada comprehensive victory over the Tralee side.

Our U11 team will take part in the Co. U11 blitz in Tralee next Saturday. Time and venue to be confirmed.

Our U16 defeated Legion in the final round of the Co. League last Sunday morning at John Mitchels pitch.

Our Minor team play Na Gaeil in the Co. Minor C'Ship this coming week-end. Time and venue to be confirmed.

Our Intermediate team will compete in the N.K. Junior League. Their opening game is fixed for this Sunday at 12 noon against Castleisland Desmonds, in Castleisland..

Congratulations to our victorious U14 team, who captured the North Kerry League title last Friday evening in Ballyduff, with a comprehensive victory over Moyvane. These 2 sides finished level in the final round of the league back in June, leaving both sides on equal points at the top of the table. As a result, a replay of this game was required to determine the League winners. Moyvane got off to a good start with 2 quick points in the opening few minutes. But then our forwards steadied themselves in front of goal and added 1-06 without reply before the half-time whistle. Abbeydorney remained in control of the game throughout the second half with our midfield and half-forward line totally dominating, linking up well with the full-forward line. Our backs did very well also, keeping the opposition scoreless for the second half. The score at the final whistle was Abbeydorney 4-13, Moyvane 0-02. Our U15 team defeated Finuge/St. Senans in the opening round of the U15 County C’Ship played in Mountcoal last Tuesday evening. They will meet Castleisland Desmonds in the next round of this competition.

Our Minor team defeated Currow in the quarter-final of the County C’Ship last Saturday morning in Currow. They will play the winners of Rathmore –v- Na Gaeil in the semi-final next week-end.

Congratulations to Sinead Mackessy who represented the club on the Kerry U16 team that defeated Dublin in the All-Ireland U16 quarter-final last week.

Our U12 team was defeated by Kerins O'Rahillys in Round 2 of the Co. League last Tuesday evening in Ballyrickard. Score : Abbeydorney 2-06, Kerins O'Rahillys 2-10. They will play Laune Rangers, this Thursday evening in Round 3 of this competition in Killorglin.

The dates for the Senior Ladies Co. C'Ship semi-finals have been set. Both semi-finals will be played as a double-header next Sunday afternoon in J.P. O'Sullivan Park, Killorglin. At 2.30pm, Abbeydorney/B'duff will take on St. Pats, East Kerry in a repeat of last year's Co. Final. This game will be followed at 4.00pm by the meeting of Sliabh Luachra and Southern Gaels . Our U12 team was narrowly defeated by Castleisland Desmonds in Round 3 of the Co. League Preliminary competition. This game was played in Castleisland last Thursday afternoon. In Round 4 of this competition, they defeated Finuge/St. Senans in an exciting encounter played in Lixnaw last Saturday morning. Congratulations to our Minor team who won their Division of the N.K. Minor Blitz, played in Castleisland on Bank Holiday Monday. Our U12 team competed once again for the N.K. League title in what was a repeat of last years final with Ballyduff providing the opposition. Having lost the toss, we had the aid of a stiff breeze, scoring 1-03 in this opening half. Ballyduff finished the half with 2pts, leaving the score at 1-03 to 0-02 at half-time. In the second half, Ballyduff piled on the pressure and were able to take their scores from long distance, aided by the breeze, which was the difference between the 2 teams in the end. The game ended with a 2pt victory for Ballyduff. However, our girls must be praised for what was a great team effort, with every player giving their all.

Our Intermediate team was defeated by Sneem/Kenmare in the Pat Lawlor Shield Final, played in Killorglin last Saturday afternoon. We played with the aid of a strong breeze in the opening half and finished the half with an 11 point lead, 3-5 to 1-0. Sneem/Kenmare opened the scoring in the second half with 2 points. Then followed a goal blitz, with Sneem/Kenmare rattling home 4 goals in a 10 minute period. We failed to get a grip on the game after this period, even though we did manage to bring the lead to within 3 pts. The game was abandoned briefly by the referee after 10 minutes due to adverse weather. However upon agreement from both teams, it was decided to resume the game.
